Mr Khoza's Profile

Mr Khoza is CEO of CIDB South Africa, having been appointed in February 2007. Previously he worked as Programme Manager-Procurement and Delivery Management for cidb between July 2006 and January 2007; operated his small consulting firm between 2003 and June 2006; was a Director and Business Development Manager for Ninham Shand Consulting Engineers between 1999 and 2003; was Factory Manager for Chapelat, a sugar confectionery division of Cadbury Schweppes SA; Production Manager at African Products, a starch and syrups division of the Tongaat-Hulett group, and Laboratory Analyst at Lever Brothers.

Ronnie has qualifications in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry and Applied Chemistry as well as Business Management.

Professor Dave Langford's Profile:

Dave Langford is Professor Emeritus at Glasgow Caledonian University.He has held senior academic positions at Glasgow Caledonian,Strathclyde,Bath,and Brunel Universities.In addition he has held Visiting Professorships in Hong Kong and Australia and has lectured and consulted around the world.More recently he was awarded the position of Honorary Life President of the Association of Researchers in Construction Management(ARCOM)

He has written 14 books including Strategic Management in Construction(with Steve Male) His current interests are writing a history of Construction Management and working on a play about the tension between research and teaching in Universities’. In other lives he likes to travel, follow cricket and go to the theatre.

  • He is a Fellow of the CIOB - UK, Registered Construction Project Manager in South Africa, American Association of Cost Engineers (MAACE) and American Institute of Constructors (MAIC).
  • He was a full time secretariat member of the South African government Task Team responsible for developing the Construction Industry policy for two years 1998 and 1999.
  • He received a joint Centre for Science and Industrial Research (CSIR) outstanding achiever award in 1999
  • He received the 2002 Researcher of the year award, Graduate School of Business Leadership, University of South Africa (UNISA).
  • In January 2005 (at the CIB W92 Conference -University of Arizona, USA), Professor Rwelamila was named as the second most cited researcher in project procurement in the world.
  • Professor Rwelamila has more than 190 published and peer-reviewed journal papers, chapters in books and conference proceedings.

Keynote Speaker: David Hofmeyr - Representative, Master Builders Association Western Cape

Mr Hofmeyr's Profile:

Mr Hofmeyr will be attending as a representative of the Master Builders Association Western Cape. He is a Trustee and Chairman of two trusts established by the MBAWC to promite and fund skills training in the building industry, namely the Skills and Education Trust, and the MBA Development Trust.

He is a Past President of the Association, and serves on a number of committees. He is also a registered professional engineer (BSc (Civ) Eng from UCT) and has been active in the building industry for the past 34 years, having worked for Murray & Roberts for 17 years, and since then engaged in personal business interests primarily in timber joinery manufacture. His primary business, West Cape Joinery, has been a member of the MBA for some 25 years.

Keynote Speaker: Mr Chewe Kambole - Acting Dean, School of the Built Environment, Copperbelt University, Zambia

Mr Chewe's Profile:

Mr Chewe is a lecturer at the Copperbelt University in the School of the Built Environment, Department of Civil Engineering and Construction. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) degree and a Master of Science degree in Engineering Geology.

He is a Registered (practicing) Engineer under the Engineering Institution of Zambia. His main areas of career & academic interest are Construction Materials, Quality Management, Soil Mechanics & Foundation Engineering, Geotechnics, and Engineering Mechanics. He currently serves as the Head of the Civil Engineering and Construction Department in the School of the Built Environment and also Acting Dean of the School. Before joining the Copperbelt University he worked in the Construction Industry for six years that covered Civil Engineering structural design work, supervision of contractors, Site Investigations and Pile Foundation construction. Since joining the University he has been involved in various Site Investigation Consultancies as well as supervision of construction projects
